How to Have Your Sins Forgiven

Gospel means Good News, but to have a relationship with God, we must first hear and understand the bad news before we can receive the Good News.

The Problem

SIN

Sin separates us from a holy God. Unless we deal with our sin, we are eternally lost.

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
(Romans 3:23)

Your Iniquities (sins) have separated you from your God.
(Isaiah 59:2)

The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Romans 6:23)

Even if you only committed one sin in your whole life, it would be enough to condemn you to hell. God’s standard is perfection and none of us can reach that standard. You could never earn your way to God.

Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.
(Ephesians 2:9)

The Solution

Biblical belief is more than an intellectual agreement with facts; it involves entrusting oneself to the object of belief, namely Jesus.

BELIEVE

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
(John 1:12)

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
(John 3:16)

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
(John 3:36)

CONFESS

The literal definition is, “to say the same thing as another.” In other words, when I confess my sin, I agree with God that what he calls sin really is sin.

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
(Romans 10:9)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
(1 John 1:9)

REPENT

Literally “a change of mind.” However, genuine repentance includes a change of heart leading to a change of behavior.

Jesus said, I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.
(Luke 5:32)

Repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
(Luke 24:47)

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out.
(Acts 3:19)

The Result

SALVATION

When we come to God in faith, putting our trust in Jesus alone, we will be saved.

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
(Romans 10:13)

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.
(Romans 5:1)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
(2 Corinthians 5:17)

Gospel means Good News.

God has provided a way for guilty sinners to be forgiven. That’s Good News. Put your faith and trust in him today.

Behold, now is “THE ACCEPTABLE TIME,” behold, now is “THE DAY OF SALVATION”
(2 Cor.6:2)

If you decided to follow Jesus, I would love to hear from you.
